Everything you wanted to know about oneworld
Our frequently asked questions provide you with quick answers to the most commonly asked questions around oneworld and the benefits it provides.
When will Qatar Airways flights be included in oneworld fare products such as oneworld explorer?
Effective 1 November 2013, you may book Qatar Airways flights as part of oneworld Explorer and Global Explorer round-the-world fares, as well as, select Multi-continent and Single-continent fares.
NOTE: on 1 November 2013, Qatar Airways flights will not be available as the first segment of your itinerary when booking your oneworld Explorer itinerary through our online booking tool. To originate your oneworld Explorer itinerary on Qatar Airways please contact your Travel Agent or Qatar Airways http://www.qatarairways.com/contactus.
How soon can I start earning and redeeming frequent flyer miles for Qatar Airways flights?
Now that Qatar Airways is a member of the oneworld Alliance, segments flown on Qatar Airways will accrue mileage in the oneworld member airline program that you designate. Likewise, mileage you have accrued can be used for redemption on Qatar Airways flights. As always, please review the terms and conditions that govern your favorite oneworld member airlines' frequent flyer program.
Can I combine points/miles in separate oneworld frequent flyer programmes and use them towards a single award?
Unfortunately, an award can only be booked through the programme in which the points/miles are registered. To avoid having points/miles across multiple programmes, make sure the points/miles you earn are credited to your preferred members frequent flyer programme.
Where can I get my miles or points credited for flights taken?
The best way to ensure that miles are credited is to enter your frequent flyer number into the booking before you travel. There are various ways you can do this:
- Booking online: All our carriers websites allow you to enter their own and other oneworld airline frequent flyer numbers into your bookings, usually just before or during the payment stage.
- Booking through a travel agent: please provide travel agent with your frequent flyer number so that he/she can enter it into the booking.
- At Check-in : Many of our carriers allow you to enter frequent flyer number when you check in online, at a self service kiosk, or at a check in desk.
In the event that your frequent flyer number has not been entered into the booking before you travel, please contact your frequent flyer programme, (or check their website) to find out what procedure to follow to credit your miles/points. Usually it is requested to send in the boarding passes for these flights. Often these processes can take several weeks, thus we recommend that wherever possible customers ensure that their frequent flyer number is entered into booking before travel.
