Visiting Malaysia is to be made easier and better value for international travellers with the launch of the new oneworld Visit Malaysia pass by the oneworld® airline alliance - offering savings of up to 60 per cent on flights within one of Asia's most attractive and diverse countries.

The latest offering in oneworld's market-leading range of alliance fares will be available for sale from midnight tonight, as Malaysia Airlines, one of Asia's leading airlines, joins oneworld, which aims to be to be the first choice airline alliance for frequent international travelers.

oneworld's new Visit Malaysia pass offers great value travel for visitors to the country throughout the entire Malaysia Airlines' domestic network.

Malaysia Airlines serves 16 destinations across Malaysia's peninsula mainland and islands, including Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo Island - from the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur to the wooden houses on stilts in remote villages, from the tropical beaches of Langkawi and Penang to the jungle gateways of Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

Malaysia Airlines Group Chief Executive Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said: "Malaysia Airlines' addition to oneworld from midnight tonight means that it will be easier than ever before to visit our wonderful country from all over the world.

"The oneworld Visit Malaysia pass is designed to encourage visitors to sample the world famous Malaysian Hospitality throughout our nation - from the capital's Petronas Twin Towers to the tea and rubber plantations of the Cameron Highlands, the world-class hotels and golf courses of Langkawi and Penang, the snorkelling and scuba diving resorts on the East Coast and the orang-utan hideaways of Borneo."

The oneworld Visit Malaysia pass must be purchased in conjunction with an international flight to Malaysia with any oneworld member airline.  It can include just one Malaysia Airlines' domestic flight or more, at prices that offer savings of up to 60 per cent on Malaysia Airlines' regular published fares.

Each flight within Peninsular Malaysia (between Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Langkawi, Alor Setar, Johor Bahru Kota Bahru, Kuala Terengganu or Kuantan) or within Sabah and Sarawak (between Kota Kinabalu and Tawau, Sandakan, Labuan or Kuching or between Kuching and Bintulu, Miri or Sibu) costs MYR 263 (about US$ 85), excluding any taxes or other charges which may be imposed in the country of sale.

Each flight on any of the sectors the airline operates between Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo's Sabah and Sarawak (between Kuala Lumpur and Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Labuan, Miri, Sandakan, Sibu or Tawau) costs MYR 403 (about US$ 130), again excluding any taxes or other charges which may be imposed in the country of sale.

oneworld offers one of the most extensive ranges of alliance fares available, enabling customers to fly on multiple airlines with attractive savings on regular published fares, whether they want to fly right around the world, or explore one or more continents or regions.

These include Visit passes for Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia and New Zealand, Europe and Japan.

About Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airlines serves more than 60 destinations in almost 30 countries across Asia, Australasia, Middle East, Europe, and North America, including oneworld hubs Hong Kong, London Heathrow, Los Angeles, Sydney and Tokyo Narita.

Its present fleet of 88 aircraft - including its flagship Airbus A380s - operates more than 250 departures a day.  It boarded 13 million passengers in 2011, generating revenues of MYR 13.6 billion (US$ 4.5 billion).

Malaysia Airlines describes its distinctive brand as an extension of the special culture of warmth and friendliness unique to Malaysians. This inimitable Malaysian sense of graciousness is branded as "Malaysian Hospitality" and symbolized by the acronym MH, which is also the airline's flight code.

Both Malaysia Airlines and its Kuala Lumpur hub are among the industry's most frequent winners of awards for quality service.  Malaysia Airlines itself has won the World's Best Cabin Staff title from the UK based Skytrax airline quality rating agency in seven of the past 11 years.

Last year, Malaysia Airlines marked the entry of its first A380 into its fleet by having its Five-Star Airline status renewed by Skytrax - as the airline embarked on a series of improvements to reposition it as a premium carrier.
