Using our demo version

Our updated Itinerary Planner and Booking Tool demo will show you step by step how to use the tool and how to build a fully validated oneworld Explorer itinerary and book it on-line. Simply click on the link to your left to open the demo, which you can run in a separate window along side the tool itself.

Which itinerary do you want to build?

If you want to build a oneworld Explorer Round-the-World itinerary and purchase it on-line, click on ‘Plan and Book a Round-the-World itinerary'. If you prefer to book through a oneworld member airline or travel agent, choose ‘Plan a Round-the-World itinerary'. This will automatically validate your itinerary against the rules and give you warnings and messages if your path is invalid. For any other itineraries choose ‘Plan a Multi-City itinerary'.

Is there a difference in the itinerary rules between Planner and Booking tool?

There are minor changes in the rule application of the Booking tool due to technical restrictions. The rule validation will take you through the changes by displaying the respective messages.

Who is going to be the ticketing carrier if I book on-line?

The ticketing carrier is depending on a number of factors. Mostly the carrier that you find in the code of the first segment of your itinerary is going to issue you with an e-ticket via e-mail. Please note that Qantas will ticket on behalf of JAL Japan Airlines and American Airlines will ticket on behalf of Royal Jordanian.

How do I find out about the price for my itinerary?

Once you have completed planning your itinerary and selected all your flights click on the "Book Now" button. You will be given a quote including all taxes, fees, and surcharges.

To start building your itinerary:

Click on any city dot or enter the city name or code in the top right 'Enter City Name' box. You can also build your itinerary by entering a string of city codes in this box, for example: SYD LAX NYC LON SIN SYD will build your complete round-the-world itinerary from Sydney via Los Angeles, New York, London, and Singapore back to Sydney.

To use the colour codes in the map:

If you use the map to build your round-the-world itinerary by clicking on the respective city dot, the colour coding will help your planning process. Cities marked with a green square signify destinations for which you may find a direct or single connection. Cities marked with a yellow dot may still be viable options with double connections. You may also be able to add this city in your itinerary by adding a hub city in a manual connection. Please note that the respective flight may have variable availability depending on the travel date.

Any city marked with a red triangle will not be an acceptable selection at this stage of your itinerary and will generate an error. This colour option is not applicable for the Multi-City Itinerary type.

To monitor your itinerary:

Your itinerary is being built on the right side of your screen. The city where you are focused on in your planning process will be highlighted on the map and in the itinerary. If you add a city at this stage, you will add it after this point in your itinerary. You can drag and drop cities or move them up and down by using the options menu above the itinerary. You also have the option to cancel a city from your itinerary by clicking on the X.

To add your flight selection:

Click on ‘Choose Flight' to open your flight search window. You have to specify the required date for your search. In the Booking Tool mode your flight search is based on real time availability. If no flight in the desired Cabin Class is available, you will be given the option to change to a different Cabin Class. Once your search results are displayed look at the details of each flight by clicking on the information and choose the flight that best suits your needs. To sort, click on the header of the relevant column. Upon selection, the flight will be automatically added to your itinerary and you can review the flight details by clicking on ‘Show Details'.

Flight search options in the planning mode:

In the planning mode where flight options are based on a timetable database you have the option to limit your search by departure time, airline, codeshare flight exclusion or direct flight only. You can also look at flights on following or previous days by clicking on the arrows or at a weekly view by selecting ‘Within 3 days' in your ‘Date Flexibility' option.

To change a flight selection:

Click on ‘Show Details' in your departure city in the itinerary and then follow the link to ‘Change Flight', which brings you back to the flight selection window.

To add a surface segment:

Surface segments are allowed within limitation. In order to plan a surface segment into your itinerary, click the button ‘Surface Sector' in your itinerary for the departure city from where you want to use alternative transportation.

To view and eliminate errors:

If the itinerary you are planning is against the ticket rules, error messages will appear in the itinerary and the ‘Review' screen. You can click on the error messages for details. Mostly, you will need to make a change to your itinerary such as deleting segments that are beyond the sector limits, changing surface segments to flights or switching the order of the itinerary. In order to review the rules, you can always follow the link on the top right: ‘Rules & Restrictions'.

To switch between a round-the-world itinerary and an itinerary that is not validated:

You can switch between the three tasks in the ‘Review' screen. Choose the option in the selection ‘Task'. Please note that you may get additional error messages when switching from Multi-city Itinerary to Round-the-World Itinerary due to the extra limitation on those ticket types.

To save, retrieve and print an itinerary:

You can save an itinerary and retrieve it from ‘My Itineraries' screen or the ‘Start' page. You have the option to save the itinerary to your PC or to oneworld.com. If you choose to save the itinerary to oneworld.com you need to set up an account with your e-mail address and a password. You can access itineraries that you have saved this way from any computer with internet access.

You can give your itineraries names to help identification. At any time you can review your itineraries and any existing messages and warnings in the ‘Review' Screen where you can also print the itinerary or save them as pdf documents.

Please note that your itineraries will always be automatically saved for the length of your session. However, if you want to return to this itinerary next time you visit oneworld.com, you need to save the itinerary by clicking on the 'Save' button.

Other helpful hints:

Use the zoom thumbnail in the top left of the map to show more or less detail of the world map. If you hold your left mouse, you can drag the map to re-center on a different geographical area.
