About Cathay Pacific
oneworld® founder member Cathay Pacific Airways is the flag carrier of Hong Kong and one of Asia's most highly regarded airlines.
Established in 1946, Cathay Pacific's major shareholders are Hong Kong conglomerate Swire Pacific Group (with a 40 per cent stake), Beijing-based CITIC Pacific (holding 17.5 per cent, Air China (10 per cent) and China National Aviation Co Ltd (7.5 per cent).
A regular winner of awards for customer service, it was named Airline of the Year 2006 by Air Transport World, OAG and (jointly) the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation.
Network
It serves some 45 destinations in approaching 30 countries, in Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America and Africa. In December 2003, it resumed flights to mainland China, initially to Beijing and Xiamen. It aims soon to relaunch passenger services also to Shanghai.
Travel Classes
Cathay Pacific offers three classes, all three of which are currently being upgraded:
- First, featuring what the airline claims are the longest and widest flat beds in the sky
- Business, offering lie-flat seat beds
- Economy
Cathay Pacific prides itself at being at the forefront of harnessing IT to improve customer service. In-flight it offers at least 20 video channels in all cabins with video and audio on demand in First and Business. It was the first airline to commit to installing in-flight email capability.
Codeshare Partners
Cathay Pacific code-shares with oneworld partners American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines and Qantas.
Beyond oneworld, it has bilateral relationships with Air China, Dragonair, Malaysia Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Aeroflot Russian International Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, and with the French rail operator SNCF.
oneworld Airline Affiliates
In late 2006, Cathay Pacific acquired a 100 per cent holding in Dragonair, the Hong Kong-based carrier which is the biggest airline serving mainland China based outside the mainland and a regular winner of awards as the best airline serving the mainland. Dragonair has joined oneworld as an affiliate to Cathay Pacific on 1 November, 2007.

Greater benefits with The Marco Polo Club
