New code-share links Santiago and Sydney hubs

27 March 2002

oneworld™ partners LanChile and Qantas are linking their main hubs by direct flights from 1 July when the Chilean airline starts flying between Santiago and Sydney. Qantas will code-share on the three services a week, via Auckland.

Qantas' Executive General Manager Sales and Marketing John Borghetti said: "Through the oneworld alliance, Qantas and LanChile have been working together to provide customers with the benefits of a comprehensive network, linked frequent flyer programs and smooth airport transfers.

"The addition of this new Santiago-Sydney service is a further strengthening of the relationship between LanChile and Qantas."

The new Santiago services, with excellent connections to other points in South America, will replace Qantas flights from Sydney to Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Mr Borghetti added: "South America is an important market for Qantas, and for Australia, and by working with LanChile we are able to increase the number of services between Australia and South America.\
