The oneworld® alliance airlines provide more than 500 lounges across the globe. If you are an Emerald or Sapphire level top-tier member of one of our frequent flyer programmes, you will have access to any of these lounges before departure, no matter which oneworld airline you are flying. Lounge access is available if the departing flight from that airport is marketed and operated by a oneworld carrier. Access is subject to lounge capacity.

The oneworld Lounge Access Policy

Lounge access is provided on a complimentary basis for designated premium passengers or for top tier frequent flyers with limited exceptions.

The oneworld alliance provides more than 500 lounges across the globe. Lounges are owned and operated by one of the oneworld partners. Some of the lounges may be operated by a third-party (non-oneworld affiliated).

Eligibility

In all cases, lounge access eligibility is based on:

• Departing carrier - you must be flying on your next onward segment, on the same day, on a flight marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline  AND
• Frequent flyer tier status - you must also hold a frequent flyer card equivalent to oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status, OR
• Class of travel - you must produce a First or Business Class boarding pass for the journey's international segment on the same day.  

Advice for travellers

• If you do not have oneworld Emerald or Sapphire tier status you are only eligible to access a lounge if you are travelling in First or Business Class, or if you are travelling in Economy on a domestic or intra-European flight to connect to or from a longhaul segment in a oneworld carrier's First or Business Class.
• You must show your ticket or boarding pass and/or your current frequent flyer membership card to gain entry to any lounge.
• At peak periods, access to certain lounges may be restricted due to capacity constraints. Access is available on the day of departure when your next onward flight is with a oneworld member airline. Access may not apply at a limited number of third-party-operated lounges.
• Arrivals lounges are not included as a oneworld benefit.
• American Airlines and Qantas offer programmes enabling a customer to pay to gain access to their lounges.  These programmes are not part of the oneworld agreement, and members of these programmes are not entitled to access lounges under the oneworld agreement.

Lounge Access by Tier Status

Emerald:  When travelling on any of the oneworld member airlines, any customer who has earned Emerald tier status, is welcome (with one guest travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline) at any oneworld airlines' pre-flight lounges, including First Class, Business Class and frequent flyer lounges regardless of the class they are travelling in.

Sapphire:  When travelling on any oneworld member airline, any customer with Sapphire tier status is welcome (with one guest travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline) at any oneworld airlines' pre-flight Business Class and frequent flyer lounges regardless of class of travel.

Exceptions: 

1.  American Airlines AAdvantage® Program:  American Airlines AAdvantage® Program members, regardless of their tier status, may not use lounges when travelling on solely North American itineraries (defined as within or between the USA, Canada, Mexico [except Mexico City], the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean).  In these cases, access rules are governed by American Airlines' own rules (ie paid lounge-access membership).

Lounge Access by Class of Travel

Customers flying First or Business Class have access to the equivalent class of lounge regardless of their frequent flyer status.  (First Class passengers may be accompanied by one guest travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline).

Customers flying in Economy class on the domestic or intra-European segment to connect to or from a oneworld longhaul First or Business Class flight can also use the lounge applicable to the class in which they are travelling the longhaul segment.

Exception:  American Airlines AAdvantage® Program members, regardless of their tier status, may not use lounges when travelling solely on North American itineraries (defined as within or between the USA, Canada, Mexico [except Mexico City], the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean).  In these cases, access rules are governed by American Airlines' own rules (ie paid lounge-access membership).
